Dr. Jennifer Kelly has worked as a classroom teacher, an intervention teacher, a district literacy coordinator, an adjunct professor, and an independent literacy consultant. Jen completed her PhD at the University of British Columbia, focusing on professional learning for teachers, specifically the importance of relational learning. After publishing research articles, she decided to add to her repertoire by writing professional development books for teachers that were practical and relevant to classroom practice.
Jen is the author of Active Reading Classrooms: Strategies that Build Language Comprehension and Word Recognition Skills, and Reggio-Inspired Literacy in Primary Classrooms: Nurturing Children to Listen, Prompt, Guide, and Research as They Work Together for More Meaningful Learning. Jen is as comfortable teaching a class full of kindergarten students as she is giving a keynote presentation in front of hundreds of educators. With a passion for literacy learning, Jen can infuse theory and practice when working with all educators.
